[open] Scooping Up the Field Mice and Bopping Them on the Head!
Who: Supergirl and you!
When: Sometime between September 17th and the 30th. If you want to specify a certain date, go ahead. If you don't need/want to specify, let's just assume each interaction happens on a different night, for neatness sake.
Where: In the streets of Theia........... at night
What: Monster Mash!
Warnings: Lots of blood and gooey bits, I imagine
[ooc: feel free to try and stop her, or join her, or try to make things harder for her/entice more monsters to jump her at once.]
Whenever the sun set, Kara had heard the growls and click of claws just like anyone else when they arrived at Theia. Since escaping was proving more... challenging than she wanted to let on, Kara has spent most of her time at night patrolling, making sure people are inside behind locked doors whenever possible, but not really encountering anything that could be lurking beneath.
But she can't be satisfied with that, not when the stupid little app keeps popping up with reminders that she has an unfinished task! Hey! Reminder over here! And not when she doesn't have any more answers than she did when she first got to this place. She's got to get these people back to their homes, safely, and until she can do that, she has to protect them here, and to do that, she has to figure out who's in control.
And it's not like she can brute force her way into the big magic house of magic or anything. Her injuries had healed from that eventually, and she's not eager to try again. But, apparently if she eliminates enough monsters, whatever they might be, she can just... walk right into the house. Isn't that grand? That's grand.
Which brings her to tonight, out on the streets, cape attached to a poorly stitched up (but stitched up!) super suit. The sun is fully set, a crescent moon not providing nearly enough light for Kara's liking. And there's several low, menacing growls rumbling in the dark around her.
"All right, this is going to be just... peachy," she whispers to herself before clearing her throat and saying louder, "Here, monster monster monster. Come out and let's... get this over with!"

He's noticed someone flying on patrol at night, which worries him, so he jumps out the window and transforms, flying over with his hands raised, so she doesn't think he's a...well, a flying purple monster.
"You're not...trying to call them over, are you?"

Still, Kara stands, hands on her hips. "This place is dangerous. Something has to be done about... whatever is out here." Out of the corner of her eye, she sees a shadow, blinking behind one tree and then shuffling behind another. Nothing more than shadows, so far. Oh, boy.
"So... yes, I am. You should probably go. Lock your doors. Stay safe."
no subject
"Couldn't I say the same thing for you, though? That it's dangerous and the best thing to do might be to go home?"
no subject
"Do you want to help?"
no subject
"Uh, yeah, I guess. I mean, if you're sure you're going to be okay against a lot of these guys."

It's not long after she starts that Kara might notice a window sliding open; Noël--bare faced, bleary, and wearing an old-fashioned nightcap--sticks his head out with a clearly incredulous look. "Are you insane, stupid, or just suicidal?"

"I'm hopeful for what this could lead to," she says. "Besides, I'll be fine."
no subject
"From up here, at least, it just looks like you're going to get yourself surrounded and mobbed. You really want to take on however many monsters you've attracted, all by yourself? They're probably sizing you up right now, if they're that smart, or just waiting for you to land."
no subject
"Anyway, I have a, um... hold on." She fiddles with her mirror, pulling it from her pocket, and tapping it on. She turns it and holds it up, pointing to the Taskboard notification. "I signed up for this... thing to get answers, and I haven't done it yet. And no answers have came any other way, so... if I do this, I can make the streets a little safer and maybe get some information to get us all home."
no subject
Noël rubs his face and squints at the screen, sighing in exasperation. "You would sign up for something like this. It doesn't even say how much you're supposed to do before it's considered complete, and you probably won't make a dent in the population no matter how many you kill." Who knows how many thousands of monsters there are, after all?
More importantly to him, who knows why he's even sticking his neck out for Kara for no good reason, except that she'd done the same for him? Even if the effort had gone..... more than a little south, she'd obviously meant well. "If you're really set on doing this, give me a minute to get dressed, and I'll come down."
no subject
Well, she doesn't know how durable he is.
"I don't think... I mean, I want you to stay safe. I think the best course of action for that would be for you to go back in side and lock your window, and I'll even signal you when I'm done!" She offers a beaming, confident smile with that, hoping he'll go for it at all.

"I'm not going to just go back to sleep with a brawl in full swing outside my window. And if I'm awake, I may as well do something. You're not the only one who makes a living protecting people."
He pulls off his nightcap to show ruffled dark hair, smiling wryly; sorry, Kara, he's rejecting your suggestion out of hand. "You're not my normal partner, but I'm sure we'll be able to manage somehow."
no subject
"But seriously, stay inside. Please. I can do this. It'll be fine."
no subject
Well..... if she insists, he supposes he can oblige her. It's not like it makes much difference to him. In fact, he might actually be able to manage better from a vantage point like this, having a bird's eye view of the battlefield. "Fine, have it your way. I can probably snipe just as well from a window as on the street, anyway."
no subject
She's distracted, worried about Noël, and that's the excuse she gives herself when she doesn't notice the claws before it's too late and they're clawing against the thick back of her boot. Little pincers dig in, not able to break skin, but definitely getting a hold into her boot and trying to tug her down to the ground.
Kara lowers an inch, maybe two, with a gasp, then she whips around and kicks at the head of the monster. It staggers back, and Kara jerks forward, aiming twin beams of burning heat at it from her eyes. The monster's skin boils, bubbling as fire seems to light it up from the inside out, and with a torn-out scream, it explodes in ash, floating in the air.
Kara floats back up to Noël's window, patting at the holes in her boot. Geez, Winn's really going to kill her with all the holes in her super suit so far. "Like I was saying. You need to stay safe."

He points his staff out the window to aim below and past Kara, breath steaming in air that turns momentarily frigid with a surge of power; this is why he usually fights dressed so warmly. "Silver mirror."
All at once, a sheen of ice rolls out over the street, perfectly smooth and slick--for someone like Kara, who can simply stay airborne, the change is probably completely inconsequential. For land-bound monsters like the ones they're going to be facing, though? If they can't gain any traction, then they can't gain any leverage, which means bringing their strength to bear will be nearly impossible. They may not even be able to navigate on it at all; mobility under such slippery conditions is a struggle at best. If the strategic advantage is as decisive as he hopes, then as long as Kara can stay in the air, this fight should be like shooting fish in a barrel.
